What Is the Vagus Nerve?

The vagus nerve is the longest cranial nerve in the body, running from the brainstem through the neck, chest and abdomen. It is the primary highway of the parasympathetic nervous system. When the vagus nerve is well-toned, you are calm, digesting well and healing efficiently. When under-active, you are chronically stressed, inflamed and prone to illness. Vagal tone is one of the most important — and most overlooked — markers of overall health.

How OM Activates the Vagus Nerve

This is perhaps the most scientifically validated mechanism in AVM Academy's methodology. The vagus nerve innervates the larynx and pharynx — the voice box and throat. Continuous Humming: Between OM rounds, simply hum. Humming vibrates vagal branches in the throat continuously, creating sustained parasympathetic activation.
